HOW TO AVOID THIS HUGE MISTAKE:  "Photographers tend to advertise (if they advertise at all) in all the wrong places!"

It's not our fault!  We're artists, not marketing course graduates!

This is a biggie!  You can't have been in business for longer than a few weeks without realizing that a funny thing happens if you don't advertise.....    NOTHING!

A fact:  You will not have enough clients to make any sort of profit if you do not advertise.  It's that simple.  If you are savvy enough to be advertising, you know that it's expensive as heck!  Just try and find a photographer who wouldn't much rather spend that advertising money on a new camera or some new lights, or a cool digital workstation.

If you simply put a small ad in the Yellow Pages for one year, it can cost you as much as a new high-end camera!  No B.S.!

And don't even get me started on brochures!

Direct marketing (marketing through the mail) is one of the most dangerous and risky forms of advertising out there.  Even the best marketers in the world will tell you that they don't even know exactly what will or will not work.  They tell you you have to "test."

That means you sink a ton of money into design and printing of a brochure, and you mail it only to a few hundred potential customers.  And, at the same time, you have another piece created that takes a slightly different approach, and you mail it to a different few hundred potential customers.  As the calls trickle in, you keep track of how many people respond to each of the two different pieces.  Then, you take which ever one worked the best (providing either of them made even a tiny profit), and you mass mail that one to a few thousand people.  This is the process known as testing.

VERY expensive and time consuming.  I know.  I've done it.  I've done it for years.  And it's taken me that long to perfect the current Portrait Photography Brochure that I am using.  It works every time I mail it, so it's gone unchanged for the last 5 years.   If you're interested in more about this brochure, I'll talk more about it later.  Anyway, back to the point...

Getting qualified, excited people to call you is easy - if you know the best kept marketing secret!

There is a way to advertise your photography, FOR FREE, that will bring in more qualified clients than any other type of advertising or marketing.   Plus, you will know almost immediately how well it's working!  None of this "test & wait" crap that drives us nuts!

That's right - this method will not cost you any money other than the cost of getting a few of your photographs printed.  Plus, you will be able to consistently use this method day in and day out for as long as you want the customers!

This one advertising technique has been the backbone to my entire studio for the last 30 years.  I still use it today.  And it still pulls in more qualified and excited clients than ALL MY OTHER ADVERTISING TECHNIQUES COMBINED.

JUST IMAGINE.... What if you could have a method of advertising that would virtually "SUCK THE CLIENTS INTO YOUR STUDIO" on a daily basis, AND NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR IT?

No bull.  No hype.  What I'm about to tell you will change your photography business for life!  If you only remember ONE THING from this entire website - REMEMBER THIS:

And it's so easy, if you know the secrets.  I'm talking about getting FREE displays in your town.  DO NOT PAY A CENT to display your work - believe me, you don't have to.

What other industries can you think of that can actually get their products displayed in high-traffic public places, and pay nothing for it?  In fact, businesses and community entertainment venues will practically fall all over each other to BE ALLOWED to display your work!  But only if you know exactly how to "sell" the idea to them.

I kid you not - as photographers, our product is considered art.   And people WANT to display art in their establishments.   All you have to do is ask - in EXACTLY the right way!

The key to getting great FREE displays, in the HOT-SPOTS in your town is this....

... you have to know EXACTLY how to ask for it.  That's it.  Sounds pretty simple, doesn't it?  Well, it is....    and it isn't.

Once you know WHAT to say, it's easy.  It's figuring out what to say, who to say it to, and how to say it that is hard.  It took me a couple of years of work to perfect what I call my "Get Displays Now"  system.   Now, I can walk into virtually any establishment, and within 2 days have my portraits displayed there.  In fact, in my 33 years in photography, I've only had ONE place not allow me to display my work there.  JUST ONE!  Every other place I've asked (after I perfected my system, that is) said yes!

There are  11 BIG things to keep in mind when prepping what to say when trying to get a display.  If you're interested in more information on this subject, I'll tell you how to get it later in this webpage.

How to NEVER waste another penny on advertising that doesn't work.

How do you avoid wasting money on advertising that won't work?  Realize that in marketing, expensive is not always better.  Don't blindly spend money on any advertising!  There are a number of amazingly cheap (or free) ways to advertise your work that will actually work better than the expensive techniques.

Do your research.  Study the photographers who are doing it successfully.  Find out what they're doing, how they're doing it, and copy them (if you can.)  Again, don't re-invent the wheel!  Life is too short, and you deserve to use the ideas that other photographers have already tested and proven.  Let them work for you.

Now, get out there, and get your marketing going!
